Patriot Act - Available CLAN Information January 2003
In light of the advent of the Patriot Act, CLAN is providing you, our members, with information regarding what information would be available through the DYNIX system should any authorities acquire access to the database.
The following is a complete list of what information could be found:
- Any item currently checked out
- Patron records will provide address, phone number, and other information regarding patrons, based on what information each library uses on its patron registration form
- "Last patron", a record of who had an item checked out, is available for two weeks after said item has been checked in
- Any item that is overdue will show which patron has it checked out as long as it is overdue
- Any item that is classified as "lost" or "claims return"
- PURF (Patron unresolved file) maintains a history of who had what for 10 days after the PURF has been cleared up
- A few libraries do "Holds tracking" - clears out when Data Processing performs a periodic purge
- "Saved bib list" stays on record for 3 days
- "MY LIST", on the new iPac, saves items patrons put there for 2 months
