Call to order - Susan Moreland called the meeting to order at 9:42am.

Introductions:
Evan Barta - Tech Librarian at North Kingstown
Angel Ferria - Westerly
Rick Nuggets:
Currently working on: last year Champlin, next year Champlin, EnvisionWare
Champlin will probably be funded at the same rate as last year. Servers have been separated out from the normal Champlin Grant because of the expense.
As mentioned at the Quarterly meeting, there is a problem with obtaining licenses for Microsoft products. ASAP contract with RI is still pending negotiation.
OSl is currently buying the Optiplex 760s. The Gates grant is purchasing the Optiplex 960 which has additional management hardware for $40-$50 more.
Would like Libraries to get final orders in by the first week of June - June 10th.
Dell has given Rick "Premiere" status which entitles Rick to a very nice discount for parts and small purchases. Send a part # in an email and Rick can go ahead and order it without the laborious quote process. Systems and larger purchases will still use the quote process.
Office 2007 sp2 is on the FTP Support site. An integrated version with Office 2007 included is also available.
Version of Windows 7, the next OS: You can test and download a beta version from Microsoft. You "may be pleasantly surprised". This is faster and more polished than Vista.
Truecrypt- is an open source disk encryption software. Useful to encrypt your USB drive.
EnvisionWare Discussion:
Paul (CRA) - Future Reservations are not a good idea. Pdf files created outside of Adobe can bring down printer. Cranston asks patrons not to print from DOT site.
Rick - PS drivers for printers are recommended by EnvisionWare because of speed but have issues with pdf files. PCL 5 or 6 drivers get around this issue but greatly increases the time the job takes to print.
Chris- Many of the patrons at PAW use Publisher and double sided print jobs use a different printer property which can no longer be changed. They have set the default for Publisher.
Renee- CBAs (Coin Box) has 1 year EnvisionWare support. Call OSL first.
Rick- Once EnvisionWare is installed there are specific files that should be backed up. OSL will put together a more specific list to reference. You could image the EnvisionWare installation after it is all set up.
1. LPT JQE config
2. PCRes - 6 files
3. Run Printer Migration tool from Microsoft. It collects all the printer data and puts it into a cab file. You can install a new machine from it.
Michael- What things do we need to prep before an installation?
1. Take all printer drivers off the client.
2. The Network Printer(s) should have a static IP.
3. Helpful if Branches use the same last octet for printers.
4. Management PC should have a static ip. Does not run well with Vista.
EnvisionWare uses Net Support to troubleshoot.
PC Reservation must be logged on, no remote desktop.
Renee: There are a finite number of licenses for the sites and also for the management modules. After the first year the cost will be billed or rolled into the fee structure.
Issues with EnvisionWare:
If the clock is grayed out then the client has lost communication. Can bypass EnvisionWare with Alt + Tab key combination.
EnvisionWare Tech support has been known to reset the password to the default.
There was discussion on how to integrate the Library Computer Policy. Answer is on the LIT forum.
