I. Call to order
Susan Moreland called the meeting to order at 9:35am.
Minutes of the March 6, 2008 meeting
Mike made a motion to accept the minutes
of the last meeting. John seconded the motion. Motion passed and minutes were
accepted.
II. OSL Info (Rick)
i. The next group purchase of flash drives will probably occur in the Fall. Contact Andrea Plaziak at OSL if you are interested. She is taking orders and requests.
ii. Symantec updates are on the Support FTP site. Rick asked if the group would be interested in an Endpoint class. The entire group expressed interest. Rick said he would arrange a class most likely to take place in September.
iii. Rick is working on a way of doing WSUS (windows updates) altogether via a central server. If you want to participate in the testing of it, contact him.
III. Envisionware at EPL
John Carney gave the committee a tour and demonstration of Envisionware. The group saw how a patron could use the software to sign up for an Internet computer, pay for and print their print job and reserve a computer. The group discussed the hardware necessary to run Envisionware, idea of a central server, customizing Envisionware, PC security, etc.
IV. Other
a. Georgene asked if others were interested in providing their patrons with a way to
pay fines with a debit or credit card. Many in the group expressed the same interest. Paypal and third party vendors were discussed. Susan will contact Joan to see who would be the appropriate group to gather information on this topic.
b. Rick now has ghost DVDs available for VISTA machines.
V. Next Topic
The next meeting will be held in Jamestown on September 4th. The topic will be announced on the LIT forum.
