Internet Safe Useage Policy June 21, 2002
I know you've been bombarded with information--some of it contradictory--about
NCIPA compliance in light of the recent CIPA ruling. But this is
information that is really important to CLAN.
Since time is getting short to meet the June 30, 2002 deadline for having
an internet safe useage policy in place, I suggest that any library that
does not have such a policy and that wants CLAN
to receive your library's share of erate money for telecommunications
get a public hearing conducted before July 1 and prepare
such a policy. It can be a library board meeting, called for the
specific purpose of creating such a policy. You must post notice
of the meeting in a public place--like the bulletin board where you usually
put it, and one other government building--48 hours prior to the meeting.
You do not need to put in it the newspaper.
I hope all of you already have a policy in place. If not, please
consider doing so before the deadline.
Thank you.
