The Group Services and Technology Committee
Thursday April 5, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at the Central Falls Library
Attendees: Jenifer Bond (WES), Dorey Conway (PRO),  Maureen Delovio (WWA), Sharon Fredette (WAR), Joan Gillespie (CLAN), Chris Jeffers (PAW), Pat LaRose (NPT), and Laura Marlane (CFA)  
The meeting began with a discussion of the charge given to the committee by CLAN.
The following suggested small changes will be sent to the next steering committee meeting.
" Members felt that the name of the committee should be changed to Group Services and Products Committee which would better reflect what the group will be working on. Technology may be a part of what we look at but it will not necessarily be the focus.
" A new sentence should be added to item #1 that states -  This committee will work with other committees based on their needs and requests.
As soon as the SurfRI trial ends (April 15th) Laura will contact ProQuest to set up trials  (with preliminary pricing) for Ancestry Library Edition and CultureGrams Online.  All libraries and patrons currently have access to Heritage Quest, a ProQuest database.  
Sharon will create a web page that will have links to any database trials that the committee sets up. This website, which is for library staff and not patrons, will be a place for staff members to submit comments about the trial databases - good, bad or indifferent. Also, there will be a spot for staff to suggest products or services that they have been thinking about and would like to try.  This trial database page will be linked to the CLAN Support page.
